April Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

Parking

We would like to remind parents that it is illegal to park on the zig zag lines outside school between 8.15am and 9.15am and 3pm and 4.15pm. To help to ease the congestion in Salisbury Road we would like to urge all parents to walk their children to and from school or, if it is not possible to walk the whole journey, to park further afield and walk part of the way. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

Polling Day

A polite reminder that the school will be closed for pupils on Thursday 3rd May as it is being used as a polling station for the local election.

Playground

As you may have noticed our playground was resurfaced during the Easter holidays. We were advised to allow the surface to settle for a while before having the markings relined but we will soon be arranging for this to be done.

Clubs

May we remind you that if your child is unable to attend a club that they are enrolled in, please ensure that the club leader is informed. This helps us with our safeguarding procedures. When children are absent from an after school club, it is the responsibility of school staff to find out where they are. Please help us to ensure that our systems are as efficient and effective as they can be to keep children safe.

A copy of the club timetable has been sent out via parentmail, is available on our school website www.shj.havering.sch.uk and is on display on our boards at the front and back of school. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

sQuid

Just a reminder to ensure that your child’s sQuid account is regularly topped up. If your account falls into arrears of £4.40 or more we will not be able to allow your child to choose a school dinner and you will be required to provide a packed lunch for your child until the account is topped up.

P.E. Kit

We still have a number of children who are not keeping their P.E. kits in school. Unfortunately we only have a very limited amount of spare P.E. kit in school so children have to miss their P.E. lessons due to not having the correct kit. Please therefore ensure that your child’s P.E. kit remains in school during term time and is returned to school on the first day back after a holiday if it is taken home for washing. It would also help if all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
