Dear Parents/Carers,
Christmas Events
We have come to the end of a busy term in school. Thank you to everyone who supported our Y4 Christmas productions, the Christmas Bazaar and Carol singing in the playground. It was wonderful to see so many people in school!
Christmas Bazaar funds raised:
£595 by Junior children and staff.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Christmas Bazaar such a big success. Special thanks to FOSH committee members who gave up their time to organise such a fantastic event. All monies raised will be used to improve the Junior school playground.
We will advise you how much was raised by FOSH in due course.
We also raised £111.11 for Little Haven Hospice through collections at Christmas events. Thank you to everyone for your generosity.
Unfortunately I have to inform you that Mrs Ridley will be leaving at the end of term and that Mrs Wagner will be leaving at the end of February half term. 6RW will be taught by Mr Hackett who is an experienced teacher. Mr Hackett will also be teaching Mrs Ridley and Mrs Wagner’s Maths group. Mrs Wagner will work closely with Mr Hackett in the first week of the new term to ensure a smooth transition and handover and then will be working elsewhere in the school until she takes up her new position.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Mrs Ridley and Mrs Wagner for their hard work and wish them well in their future endeavours.
Also, I have to inform you that Mrs Samuels will be leaving us and Mrs Legg will be reducing her timetable at the end of this term. However we are very fortunate that Mrs Bains will be taking up post covering 5CS on Thursday and Fridays and 3K on Tuesday and Wednesdays until the end of the Summer term. Mrs Legg will continue to work with small groups of children throughout the school.
Thank you to Mrs Samuels for her work with 5CS and the choir this term.
House Point Winners
The winning house this half term is Beatty. Well done to everyone for their hard work! All children in Beatty house may return to school on 4th January in non-uniform. All other children must come to school in school uniform.

All your children should have now brought home a poinsettia and we are running a competition within school to see who can keep their plant thriving until Easter! We have received some lovely photos taken by the Sun’s photographer that we will be uploading onto the school website and hopefully some may appear in the newspaper on Christmas Eve.
Parent Helpers
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have come into school this term to read with children and practise times tables. Your help is very much appreciated by all the staff and children. We look forward to welcoming you back in school next term.
Y3 Egyptian Day
Our recent Day in the Life of Ancient Egypt was a huge success. Children completed a variety of activities to earn their food, including making shabtis, papyrus scrolls, oil lamps and mummies. They also thoroughly enjoyed telling stories through mime, music and dance. We had a fantastic time at the Great Feast, served by our wonderful servants. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the volunteers and to parents who made a fantastic effort to ensure children came in costume at short notice.
New Baby News!
We are delighted to announce the arrival of Mr Steele’s baby boy, Caspar, last week. Mr Steele will be taking 2 weeks paternity leave at the start of next term during which time 3S will be taught by Miss Knights. I am sure you would like to join me in congratulating Mr & Mrs Steele on the birth.
