Dear Parents/Carers,

Arrangements for the start of the school day

As previously advised, we have made a slight change to our morning routine. Teachers are now in their classrooms from 8:30am and children are allowed into the school building as soon as they come in through the gates. I am pleased to report that the new system has been working well.  Mornings in school are now much calmer and the children are using the extra time to practice key concepts or extend their learning.

The official start of the school day remains at 8:50 when the school gates are closed and the registers taken. Please therefore ensure that your child arrives at school between 8.30 and 8.45am to enable them  to get to class for registration. Any pupils who arrive after 8:50 are marked in as late and must report to the school office.

Any children arriving after 9.20am are given an unauthorised absence mark. It is therefore very important that you advise the school office if your child has an appointment or a valid reason for arriving at school after 9.20am so that they are given the correct mark. Those pupils who are persistently absent or persistently late may be contacted by our Education Welfare Officer and could be issued with a fine by the Local Authority.

End of the School Day

We would like to remind parents that dismissal time for pupils is at 3:15pm. Unfortunately, we have a number of pupils who are collected late on a regular basis. This is not only distressing for the child concerned but also causes difficulties for staff who have to attend meetings and have other duties after school. I would ask everyone to be considerate and ensure that children are collected promptly.

Maths Open Mornings

It has been lovely to see so many parents for our Year 5 and 6 Maths Open Mornings. The children and staff have enjoyed having the extra visitors and support. Thank you for all the feedback so far. We look forward to welcoming Year 3 and 4 parents to Maths lessons over the next couple of weeks. There will also be an opportunity for parents to come in for a Science Open Morning in March. Details to follow in a separate letter.

Congratulations to the boys Football Team who have made it through the first stage of the West Ham United Primary Stars Competition. They played 8 other school teams from across Essex and won the tournament.

Good luck at the next stage of the tournament boys- we can't wait to hear how you get on!

Well done to the girls’ football for their effort at a Football Cup game against Upminster Primary. Unfortunately, we didn't take the win but it was a great game to watch. Well done to Halle for a fantastic goal!

Mrs King

We have recently received complaints from residents living in Heath Park Road as parents are parking over their driveways. They have advised us that it is happening more and more and is causing them a lot of stress and creating bad feelings. Please can we therefore request that parents are considerate of our neighbours when parking and not obstruct driveways. We would also like to remind parents that it is illegal to park on the zig zag lines outside school between 8.15am and 9.15am and 3pm and 4.15pm. To help  ease congestion in Salisbury Road we would like to urge all parents to walk their children to and from school wherever possible. If it is not possible to walk the whole journey then please consider parking further afield and walk the remainder of the journey. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.
