We would like to remind you that if your child is unable to attend a club, that they are enrolled in, you must contact the school office to inform them. In accordance with our Safeguarding procedures, if children are absent from an after school club, without prior notice, the office staff have to contact parents to ensure the child is safe.
Unfortunately, we have to report that there was recently an incident involving a car and a member of our school community. The parent involved was fortunately not seriously hurt but it could have been a very different situation if a child had been involved. We would like to remind you that you must never park on the Zig Zag lines between 8.15am and 9.15am and 3pm and 4.15pm. We do understand that congestion can be very heavy during drop off and pick up times but please always ensure if you do drive to school that you find a safe non obstructive place to park. Please do not ever stop in the middle of the road outside of school and allow your children to get out of the car as this is very dangerous and blocks the road. We are in regular communication with the Havering Parking Enforcement Team who visit schools regularly in the area to issue fines for irresponsible parking.
Thank you to all those parents that have attended the Reading workshops this half term. They were an opportunity for parents to work alongside their child, in the classroom, and to learn and experience ways in which they could help their child read at home. The workshops were well received by all who attended and many parents commented how useful it was to see how reading is taught in class. Our final workshop is next Thursday 6th February for Year 3 parents but there are plans to repeat these sessions again in the future.
To continue our focus on Reading, the whole school will participate in a 'Readathon' starting later this month. Keep an eye out for further details on how you can help track your child's reading and how we can work together to promote reading across the school as well as raise funds to purchase much needed resources for our school!
Boys Football Match
Our boy’s football team played a Quarter Final Cup match vs Parsonage Farm this week. Despite the boys playing really well and going 1-0 at the start of the game we unfortunately lost the game 5-3. Well done to all our players and congratulations to our defender awarded Man of the Match.
Y3 Falconry Workshop
This half term, Year 3 are studying the topic Predator! We had a visit from some birds of prey to help us to find out more about this type of predator. In the morning we met a variety of birds including falcons. Owls and hawks. There was an aerial show and Fudge the barn owl flew right over our heads. She was so quiet we didn’t even realise that she had moved!
In the afternoon we became scientists and dissected owl pellets to see what they had been eating. We found mouse and shrew skulls along with other bones. It was a fantastic day and we learned so much!
February Half Term
Our Half Term holiday is from Monday 17th February to Friday 21st February (inclusive). Junior school children return to school on Monday 24th February.
