Dear Parents/Carers,

Fond Farewell

We come to the end of another academic year when we have to say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils. We thank them for their effort and commitment during their time with us and wish them well in secondary school.

We also say farewell to some members of staff. Mrs Procopio, Mrs Aarons, Miss Scivyer, Mrs Bozkaya and Mrs Coffey from our teaching team all moving on to pastures new. Mrs Pittuck, who has been a member of our support team for eight years, will sadly also be leaving us. Miss Douglas will be starting her maternity leave so we wish her well and look forward to meeting her new arrival. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank them all for their service to the school and wish them well in their future endeavours.

New Staff

We would like to welcome Miss Weller, Miss Bryant, Mrs Kemp and Miss Flynn to our teaching team. We would also like to welcome Mrs Wells who will be our new Learning Mentor during Miss Douglas’ maternity leave. We hope that they will all be very happy here.

Playground Update

As you may have noticed, our playground is now complete! The children have enjoyed playing on the equipment the last couple of days. It has been wonderful to see so many happy, smiling faces.

Thank you once again to FOSH for their help in raising the necessary funds and Mrs Scannell-Wood for her help with our Lottery Funding application.

Sports Day

A big well done to all the children for their superb efforts in this year’s Sports Day with a special congratulations to team Farrah who won the competition overall!  Thank you to our super supporters and proud parents who came to watch on the day. We hope you enjoyed the Sports day as much as we all did!

Special thank you to Mr Clark for his help in securing the field for us! I am pleased to report that we have signed a lease with the Local Authority which provides the school with access to the field until 2021.

Thank you also to the fabulous FOSH ladies who lent us the gazebos for the event and gave up their time to help put them up and take them down.

Y6 Production

Thank you to all the Y6 parents/carers who came along to the Y6 Leavers Production. The children put on a fine performance and we all thoroughly enjoyed their singing and acting.

Y6 chose to raise money for Cancer Research. We raised a total of £153.37. Many thanks for your contributions.

French Day

Thank you to all our pupils and staff who dressed up for French Day last Monday. The children enjoyed tasting some French food, taking part in a French performance and learning some new vocabulary words. A special “merci” to Mrs Atkinson for organising such an enjoyable day.

Netball Match

Squirrels Heath played a friendly Netball match against Scotts Primary this half term. Whilst we lost both matches, the children worked well as a team and put forth a good effort. We are confident that now we have a completed and lined playground to train on, we will have more luck next year!

Scores

Team A Squirrels Heath 3: 8 Scotts

Team B Squirrels Heath 1:2 Scotts

Scotts chose Players of the match for us as:

Lara- Team A

Olivia and Kacey- Team B

Well done to all of the children and as always, thank you to our lovely parents who whooped and cheered from the side lines!
