We would like to congratulate Year 6 pupils and staff for their fantastic SATs results! Our results this year are above both National and Havering averages in all subject areas, We are particularly proud of our results in Maths which show a significant improvement over last year. Well done to everyone for your perseverance and hard work!
Thank you to those of you who attended our Summer Fete on 24th of June. It was lovely to see so many of you there! The Summer Fete was a big success and was incredibly well organised. We managed to raise £2895 in total for both schools.
On behalf of the whole school community I would like to thank FOSH for their work not only in organising the fete, which in itself is a massive undertaking, but also for their hard work, commitment and dedication throughout the school year. Were it not for this small group of parents, our school would lose out on some much needed funds and the pupils would also miss out on some fantastic events.
I would ask that if any of you are able to give some time to consider joining the committee next year or helping out at future events your assistance and support would be gratefully received!
A small group of out Year 6 pupils represented our school at a maths quiz which took place on Friday 7th July at Hall Mead Secondary School. Twenty six primary schools took part and the competition was fierce. I am pleased to say that we were awarded third place. This is a remarkable achievement especially as Maths was a focus area for us this year. Congratulations to Dishon, Alex, Emily B and Ruby. We are very proud of your accomplishments.
On Wednesday 12th July, a group of pupils took part in a dance competition at the Broadway Theatre in Barking. I am pleased to announce that the group were awarded second place for their efforts and were presented with a lovely trophy! Well done and congratulations to Georgia G, Lily, Ellie Mae, Georgie Mai, Gemma, Gracie, Sasha, Ria, Scarlett Rose and Charlotte.
On Friday 14th July the children and staff marked Bastille Day by taking part in French activities in school. The activities ranged from food tasting to playing French games and learning new vocabulary. Lots of fun was had by all. Many thanks to Mrs Atkinson, our Modern Foreign Languages Lead for organising the event as well as the pupils and staff at Emerson Park Secondary school who helped lead some of the activities.
Thank you to all those parents who supported our Book Fair which raised a total of £414. We hope that the children enjoy reading their new books over the summer.
Thank you to all the Y6 parents who came along to the Y6 Leavers Production. Y6 chose to raise money for the Grenfell Tower Victims. We raised a total of £183.48. Many thanks for your contributions.
Our overall school attendance this year is 96.5%. This falls just shy of our target of 97%. We would like to say a big thank you to parents and pupils for maintaining good attendance in school this year as this contributes greatly to the progress that pupils make.
Unfortunately we still have some pupils missing school due to planned family holidays during term time. We kindly ask all parents to support the school in our aims and ensure that all pupils maintain good school attendance. A copy of our attendance policy is available on our school website.
Online SafetyWe have noticed an increase in the number of incidents being brought to our attention involving pupils using social media inappropriately. Some pupils are posting images, videos and comments on social media sites which put themselves or others at risk. Others are accessing sites which are not suitable for young children. We ask that you regularly monitor your child’s internet use and access to social media. If you need any help or guidance, there are some materials on our website which may be of some assistance. Staff in school are also happy to assist where we can so please do not hesitate to ask.
