Dear Parents/Carers,

Sports Day

Just a reminder that our Sports Day is next Thursday morning, 4th July starting at approximately 9:30am. It is scheduled to finish at approximately 11:30am.

The children can come to school wearing their PE kits with a t-shirt representing their 'house' colour.

Green- Adams

Yellow- Farah

Red-Redgrave

Blue-Weir

Children can then remain in their PE kits for the remainder of the school day.

Please ensure that children bring sun hats (with name in), water bottles and have sun cream applied before they come to school.

Parents/Carers are welcome to spectate and will be able to watch and follow their children as they move along each event.

We will send out more details next week confirming all of the above and detailing the organisation of the Sports Day, including a list of all classes' first event' so that you will know where to head to in order to support your child.

Mrs. King (PE Lead)

Quad Kids

A big WELL DONE to the 32 children from across the school who took part in the annual Quad Kids Athletics Competition held at Hornchurch Stadium.

The children competed against 100s of other Havering pupils in 4 events including running, sprinting, throwing and jumping.

From the side-lines, it was clear that every child put in 100% effort and we saw many children achieving new ‘Personal Bests’.

The children looked so smart in their fresh red and white kits and as always, made us all at Squirrels Heath Junior School so proud of them. Thank you to Mr. Foley, whose very kind and generous donation, helped to fund these new kits!

Full results can be found at:

Once again, congratulations to everyone that took part and thank you to our fabulous parent helpers and spectators. We cannot attend these events and do so well without your endless support!

Mrs King

Choir

The fantastic choir's hard work and dedication was finally rewarded last Thursday when they performed to a packed out Queen's Theatre. Our actors all delivered their lines beautifully and were supported by the brilliant chorus who sang with heart and conviction. It was a wonderful experience for all involved and I am sure it will live long in the memory. A special mention must be given to all the parents who were in attendance as it made the occasion all the more memorable. Finally a big thank you to our superstars in the making who did Squirrels Heath Juniors and - most importantly - themselves very proud indeed. Bravo!

Mr Steele

Book Fair

Thank you to all those parents who supported our Book Fair this year. We sold books to the value of £480.50 which means we have raised £228.30 to spend on new books for the school. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Summer Fete 22nd June

Thank you to those of you who attended our Summer Fete on Saturday 22nd of June. It was lovely to see so many of you there! The Summer Fete was a big success and was incredibly well organised. The Junior school raised a total of £651.50 on their bottle tombola, decorated jars, beat the goalie and face painting stalls. We will let you know how much was raised overall for both schools once FOSH have calculated the final figure.

On behalf of the whole school community I would like to thank FOSH for all their hard work in organising the fete. An event like this takes a lot of time and organisation to put together. We are very appreciative of the work of the committee and parent volunteers who make all of our events possible and raise much needed funds for the school.

I would ask that if any other parents are able to give some time helping out at future events, your assistance and support is always gratefully received.

Clubs

May we remind you that if your child is unable to attend a club that they are enrolled in, please contact the office or club leader to let them know that your child will be absent. This helps us with our safeguarding procedures. When children are absent from an after school club without prior notice, the office staff have to contact parents to ensure the child is safe.

P.E Kit

If any children in Y6 have a P.E kit that can be donated to the school at the end of term it would be very much appreciated. We still have a lot of children who are missing P.E, lessons as they do not have their kit in school.

School Meals

We have been advised by Havering Catering Services that the cost of a school lunch will increase in September 2019 from £2.20 to £2.25 per meal.
