June Newsletter v2

Dear Parents/Carers,

Sports Day

We are now almost certain that our Sports Day will take place on the Balgores Field.  We are in the process of finalising lease arrangements with the Local Authority which will allow the school use of the field over the next few years. The grass is being cut as I write this and we are assured it will be 'Sports Day Ready'. I would like to take the opportunity to express our thanks to one of our governors, Mr Clarke, in liaising with the Local Authority and to Mr Day and our Chair of Governors, Mr Harries, for checking the terms of our lease.

As mentioned previously, Sports Day will be a whole school event on the morning of Friday 13th July starting at approximately 9:30am. It is scheduled to finish at approximately 11:30am.

The children can come to school wearing their PE kits with a t-shirt representing their 'house' colour.

Children can then remain in their PE kits for the remainder of the school day.

Please ensure that children bring sun hats (with name in), water bottles and have sun cream applied before they come to school.

Parents/Carers are welcome to spectate and will be able to watch and follow their children as they move along each event.

We will send out more details next week confirming all of the above and detailing the organisation of the Sports Day, including a list of all classes' first event' so that you will know where to head to in order to support your child.

If there are any parents who would be kind enough to lend us a gazebo and perhaps be available to set it up and take it down after the event, please contact the office.  We are conscious that the weather could be very warm and the more shelter we can provide, the better.  Thanks in advance for this.

Mrs. King (PE Lead)

Quad Kids

Well done to those pupils who took part in the Quad Kids Athletics Events. Our team did very well overall and many children achieved very good personal results. As usual, the children displayed great enthusiasm and determination. Congratulations to Freddie P and Hallie N who were amongst the top ranking throwers and Harry S who was one of the top ranking sprinters in the whole competition.

Huge thanks to Mr Foley who assisted us with Athletics training in the weeks before the event and who also supported us on the day – your help was much appreciated!

Book Fair

Thank you to all those parents who supported our Book Fair this year. We sold books to the value of £653 which means we have raised £331.80 to spend on new books for the school. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Summer Fete 23rd June

Thank you to those of you who attended our Summer Fete on Saturday 23rd of June. It was lovely to see so many of you there! The Summer Fete was a big success and was incredibly well organised. The Junior school raised a total of £424.95 on their bottle tombola, beat the goalie and face painting stalls. We will let you know how much was raised overall for both schools once FOSH have calculated the final figure.

On behalf of the whole school community I would like to thank FOSH for all their hard work in organising the fete. An event like this takes a lot of time and organisation to put together. We are very appreciative of the work of the committee and parent volunteers who make all of our events possible and raise much needed funds for the school.

I would ask that if any other parents are able to give some time helping out at future events, your assistance and support is always gratefully received.

Due to the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that came into effect from 25th May we have had to seek consent from you for some of the ways we use information about you. If you have not already returned your parental consent and photo and video consent forms we kindly ask that they are returned to the school office as soon as possible.

Dance Club

The pupils in our dance club will soon have video performances uploaded to the official Premium Sports Facebook page (Premier Education Group – Romford, Dagenham, Barking and Ilford). I would ask parents of dance pupils to please return their video consent forms as soon as possible.

Once the video is on Facebook a virtual competition will run between Premier Sports Dance Clubs in the area of Romford, Dagenham, Barking and Ilford. This is where friends and family can vote for their club via a poll. It would be great to show pupils our support so I would encourage you all to have a look and participate in the vote. Good luck to our pupils.

Lost Property

We have a lot of Red jumpers in our Lost Property box. If your child has misplaced any uniform please come into the office foyer to check if it is in the box. We will make the lost property available on Parents’ Evening for those parents not able to come into school during the day. Please, please may we ask you to mark all your child’s uniform clearly with their name so that if they do mislay any items they can be returned to them. Any items still remaining in the Lost Property box at the end of term will be given to charity.

P.E Kit

If any children in Y6 have a P.E kit that can be donated to the school at the end of term it would be very much appreciated. We still have a lot of children who are missing P.E, lessons as they do not have their kit in school and unfortunately our spare kit has not been returned to us.
